The Health Science Academy is now accepting application from our freshman students. Applications are available in the Google Classroom ONLY. Please join the GC and submit the application under “Classwork”. 

All completed applications must be received in February TBD 2026 for consideration. This includes: a complete application form & teacher recommendation forms.

If all application requirements have been meet, students will receive a slip during class with a time/date for their interview. Interviews will be done in person on CAMPUS end of Feb/early March in the Library. 

Freshman students will be notified by a email with an acceptance or denial to the academy after interviews are completed. We will also have a waitlist.

If you have any questions, please email Mrs. Carson at Chloe.Carson@oxnardunion.org or stop by M18 before school or during nutrition. HSA Seniors will be presenting in Freshman English classes in January or Feb of 2026.

**Please note: we only accept 38 current Freshman students for their Sophomore year to the academy. Submitting an application does NOT guarantee acceptance.**

Welcome back to the HSA!

Welcome to a new school year at Pacifica High School and to the Health Science Academy! We are excited to have you as part of a community of students who are motivated, curious, and passionate about exploring careers in health and medicine.

A big shoutout to our new Sophomores—welcome to the academy family! To our Juniors and Seniors, we’re so glad to have you back and can’t wait to see all that you’ll accomplish this year. Get ready for hands-on learning, new challenges, and plenty of opportunities to grow in health science.

Throughout the year, you will take part in hands-on labs, engaging projects, field trips, and experiences designed to help you develop both academic knowledge and practical skills. Our goal is to support you as you build a strong foundation for future success in college, career, and beyond.

We encourage you to approach this year with an open mind, a strong work ethic, and a willingness to collaborate. Together, we will learn, grow, and make the most of the opportunities that the Health Science Academy has to offer.

We are proud of the work you will accomplish and can’t wait to see the impact you will make in our academy and community.

The Health Science Academy  is a three-year elective program designed to give students who are interested in the medical or health science field, an opportunity to gain specialized knowledge, and training in high school.

Academy Highlights:

–UC/CSU (“A through G”) required courses that demonstrate to colleges and universities the student is committed to education. 
-4 Honors Courses (GPA boost)
–Extra Point on your Nursing School program application (Ex: CSUCI)
–Certification in American Red Cross First Aid, CPR and AED
–OSHA 10 hr. Healthcare Course 
–Clinical Skills – Suturing, Heart/Lung Sounds, EKG, Bandaging/Triage, etc… 
–3-5 Field Trips per school year
–Internships – at hospitals, clinics and on-campus (Athletic Training) 

We also have paper applications available in MO18/MO17 (behind the library) or in the Counseling Office with Mrs. Aguirre.

The new timeline is as follows: new deadline to submit the application will be April 17, 2020. You can scan/email to Chloe.Carson@oxnardunion.com or drop it off in the mailbox right outside Principal Lawrence’s office. We are working on a fill-able PDF version that can be emailed.

Interviews will be held in Google Meet (video). Interviews will take place the last week of April (4/27 – 5/1). Please join our Goggle Classroom (Code: qydn7kb) if you have filled submitted an application or are planning to.

Due to the school closure, the deadline for HSA Applications has been extended. Once we have an official timeline as to when school will re-open, we will update everyone with a new DUE DATE. In the meanwhile, you can scan and email them to: Chloe.Carson@oxnardunion.org. Also the PHS Admin office is open M-F from 8am to 1pm. You can drop them off to be placed in Mrs. Carson’s box.
